Your macOS user and password

The dev account, the first password, sudo, and changing it.

Your Mac has one account for you: dev, an administrator. You log in over SSH with your key; the password is for Screen Sharing, sudo and macOS prompts.

First password

A random first password is shown on your Mac’s page. Change it after your first login:

passwd

Pick something you’ll remember: we don’t keep the new one, and Screen Sharing and sudo ask for it.

Forgot it?

You can still log in over SSH with your key, but changing the password without the old one needs help from us. Send us a message from the portal.
